Women’s Revival Ministries Newsletter 1st January 2010
Our greetings to you in the name of our Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ!
We are a global group of online ladies sharing fellowship & ministry, encouraging and praying for one another, and for the needs of others. Contact: pat@womensrevivalministries.org

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Psalms 37:4 KJV) January 5, 2003 (Col. 1:1-11)

A Prayer for the New Year: There are some amazing prayers in the Bible. This is one of them. This was Paul’s prayer for the church at Colosse.

Paul’s prayer for the church at Colosse was a prayer for: Perception: ’For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.’ (Colossians 1:9 KJV)

Paul prayed for the church that they would be able to understand or perceive the: A. Will of God – “that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will”

How are we going to do God’s will if we don’t understand what it is that God would have us do? “… Filled with the knowledge” means to have full-knowledge.

Paul did not want the church to guess at God’s will for their lives. Neither do I want you to guess at God’s will for you. We can know what God wants us to do. We do not have to meander through life hoping our life is counting for something. We can know it is…

Ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will today. Tell Him that you are willing to go wherever He wants you to go this year. Surrender your time, talents and treasures to Him tonight. Don’t hold anything back this year. Your life belongs to God. Give it back and watch Him use you in His will… God will tell you. Paul prayed for the church that they would be able to understand or perceive the will of God.

Secondly, he prayed that they might be able to perceive: B. The Word of God – “in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” ’That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.’ (Colossians 1:10 KJV)

It’s impossible to fully explain just how important the Bible is to our life. It doesn’t matter how old we are – the Bible is our, all in all. It’s the instruction book for all of life. It will give us wisdom and lead us into a life of significance.

This is my prayer for you in the New Year: May God grant us the request of our hearts as we delight ourselves in Him.

Mother Teresa Said... It is easy to love those who are far away. It isn't always easy to love those who are right next to us. It is easier to offer a dish of rice to satisfy the hunger of a poor person, than to fill up the loneliness and suffering of someone lacking love in our own family.

Prayer request: Please join us in praying for a South Korean activist Robert Park, a Korean American missionary determined to bring international attention to human rights abuses in North Korea. Park entered North Korea from China on Christmas Day with a letter urging North Korean leader Kim Jong Il to step down and free all political prisoners. North Korea announced Tuesday that an American was in custody after entering the country illegally, without identifying the person. It has said nothing more about the incident. Margaret Pasquet, a friend of the 28-year-old Park, says he attended Life In Christ Community Church in Tucson before answering God's call to help persecuted North Korean Christians. Life In Christ pastor, Rev. John Benson, says he last talked to Park about six weeks ago and the missionary felt there was something more he could do. Benson says Park is not afraid to die, but he's also not trying to be a martyr.

Our sincere regards to your members. You are highly welcome to Kenya. We love you all and we hope to hear from you soon. Yours in Christ Pastor Charle Onduso Kiari

Crosscards: History has seen no lack of antagonists gleefully disparaging Christianity. Today's trendy "New Atheists" are just the latest iteration of those who would detract from our faith. Since the press frequently hands them its coveted microphone, this group carries more weight in our culture than their small numbers warrant. To answer this challenge Crosscards have teamed up with Franklin Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Society to create the "I Am a Christian" campaign. Please join us as we gather a group of Christian voices unafraid to proclaim their faith. We at Christianity.com are convinced that Christians who stand up to be counted publicly can make a difference in how those around us perceive the Christian faith.

To join us we ask that you do three things:
Sign up on our "I am a Christian" page on www.ibelieve.com. Go to your Twitter account or Facebook page and post "I am a Christian" in your status update with a link back to www.ibelieve.com. Send an ecard to your friends and family encouraging and challenging them to proclaim their faith. Our goal is to create a group of 1,000,000 Christians willing to proclaim the truth of the gospel in their online communities—people who are undaunted by the ranting of atheists. If you are a believer willing to proclaim the power of the Christian faith in your life, please join us.

Seven practical steps to a happier new year:

Live in the present: Many people spend much of their lives regretting what’s gone and worrying about what’s to come (remember the word ‘resentment’ literally means‘re-feeling’) When this happens, simply bring your attention back to the millisecond that you’re living right now.

Don’t try to change others: Accept that you can only change yourself.

Think happy: Your happiness levels may seem to go up and down with circumstances, and that is true to some extent. But your own thoughts are the biggest factor dictating how you feel. The way we think about someone or something totally influences how we feel. Tell yourself that you’ll have a happy day and you will – despite the mountain 0f problems in your path. Think optimistically. The trick is to recognise negative thoughts but not let them overwhelm your life; look for a more positive way of seeing things - of changing your thought pattern. Start thinking, ‘I know I can do this’ – or, ‘there is no reason why this relationship should not work well’ – and you stand a good chance.

Don’t live in the problem, live in the solution: We become accustomed to thinking, talking and living with what’s wrong. If we think about solutions, we start thinking positively. Confront the sticky situation and work out what would make you feel better. Focussing on the healthy parts of a relationship will give you a constructive perspective to start from.

Take time to be grateful: Appreciating all the good things, big and small, colours your whole being. (It has also been shown to boost your immune system.)

Understand your moods: Our moods oscillate like a seesaw. Just when it seems life is going smoothly, bam! Our mood level drops and life seems rocky again, sometimes hopeless, then our mood lifts and the suns shining once more. For some people these shifts are slight; for others, extreme and for all sorts of reasons, including tiredness, hunger, hormones, the weather, relationships. High mood and life looks good, you have perspective, relationships flow and communication is easy. In a low mood, life seems hard, you think others are out to get you and you take things personally. Most people have their most serious discussions when their mood is low, so don’t react or make decisions until the low mood passes. Just keep putting one foot in front of another – and don’t get hungry, angry lonely or tired.

Connect with others people from your heart first, head second:
Be open, straightforward and truthful. Appreciate what others do and feel. They need the same thing as you – love. Be sure that people in your life know that they are lovable and loved.

Quote: How far you go in your life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because… someday in your life you will have been all of these." (George Washington Carver)

Give thanks: As the dawn breaks on a new year, let us give thanks for all we hold dear: our health, our family and our friends.

Let us release our grudges, our anger and our pains, for these are nothing but binding chains. Let us live each day in the most loving ways, the God-conscious way. Let us serve all who are in need, regardless of race, colour or creed.

Let us keep God of our own understanding in our hearts and to chant God’s name each day. Let us lead the world from darkness to light, from falsehood to truth and from wrong to right.

Let us remember that we are all one, embracing all, discriminating against none.

May your year be filled with peace, prosperity and love. May God's blessings shower upon you and bestow upon each of you a bright, healthy and peaceful new year.

Wishing you a blessed & peaceful New Year!

Pat
