ENCOURAGEMENT
FOR LIFE
The Christian life is not a hyper-spiritual existence. It is a normal
everyday existence lived out on a biblical level.
Letting go and letting God is not faith at all. Faith is - belief in action!
The quality of your daily walk is as much about doing, as believing. How
your life works out depends greatly on your obedience to Gods Word. God
knows exactly what you need to exist on this earth and He has promised
to supply all of your needs out of His riches in glory, and He does.
However, Jesus says in Matthew 16:24; 'if anyone should come after me,
he must deny himself and take up his cross, and follow me.' We are expected
to get up on the cross and die to Self. The daily battle between the old
and new nature is all about 'ego' and who sits on the throne of your life.
Paul says in Romans 12:1 'offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy
and pleasing to God.
He then goes on to tell us how to do it: 'Do not conform to the pattern
of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.'
What you feed into your mind determines the person you will become.
Faith grows on the knowledge of Gods Word and by taking God at His Word,
and putting it into practise in your everyday life.
He has already provided everything necessary for life and godliness, so
that you may have life in abundance.
Sad to say, many Christians do not realise their true potential. There
is nothing wrong with Christians having desires and ambitions it's part
of human nature. It's O.K to think big - aim high!
God says, 'I have plans for your future, to prosper you'.
You have been hand picked by God to fulfil His purposes and build his
kingdom, on earth. He has equipped you with unique gifts, talents and
abilities, and He wants you to make the best use of them.
Imagine, God as the greatest film Director. You are an actor and have
been chosen to play a lead role in this movie. The Director expects you
to learn your lines well and act the part to the very best of your ability.
His job is to inspire every performer to produce his very best performance.
Finally, the Director brings together all the scenes, to present the greatest
movie ever made.
If you desire in your heart to discover your true potential in Christ,
you can begin right now: Consider this day as the first day of the rest
of your life. Thank God for this new day and enjoy every moment!
Live only in the present moment; 'Forget the former things; do not dwell
on the past. See I am doing a new thing.' Isaiah 43:18-19
The past cannot be altered but how you deal with it, can. There is no
reason why your past should continue to affect your future - unless you
want it to!
The Word of God tells us not to worry about tomorrow. Matt 6:34 Only God
knows what tomorrow holds. Fulfill the duties of the day and don't put
off until tomorrow, what can be done today.
Daily say out loud, 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me.'
Be in control of your emotions:
Faith rests on the promises of Gods word and not on how you feel today.
Faith is 'being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not
see.' Hebrews 11:1
Don't allow moods and emotions to control you - overcome them with actions!
Don't take life too seriously. Only what's done for Christ will last.
Laugh and the world will become a better place. Laughter is good for your
health - it's official!
If you feel miserable - wear something colourful and smile at everyone
in the street. I can guarantee you will make someone's day.
If you feel inferior or incompetent - sit down with a sheet of paper and
make a list of everything you have done in the past.
You will be amazed at your capabilities!
Think big - 'no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who
love him.' 1 Corinthians 1:28
Take the step of faith and reach beyond your grasp. Set yourself goals
and objectives in a day. Raise your goals as soon as they are achieved.
Always make the next hour better than the last.
Don't be discouraged when you fail - fail forward!
Learn from mistakes and turn obstacles into stepping-stones. It's better
to do something wrong, than do nothing!
You reap what you sow - persist until you succeed!
Proverbs say, 'As a man thinks - he is!'
Jesus came that you might have life in abundance!
