Meeting
Jesus Is A Life Changing Experience
From the moment we are ‘born again’ the Person of the Holy Spirit
dwells within us in His entirety and we possess everything necessary,
for life and godliness. “ Peter 1:3 Achieving our full potential
in Christ is restricted only by our unbelief. ‘As a man thinks,
so is he.’ Despite Gods desire that we should become more like
Him, He does not overrule our minds and the choice of how we
live out our daily walk remains ours. If we so wish we can carry
on just as we always have but the loss will be immense, and
ours alone. However, if we do desire to become more Christ like
and effective in our witness, then we must be willing to change.
Sanctification is an ongoing process throughout our life on
earth and we are continually being renewed, through the washing
of the Word.
Romans 12:2 says; ’Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.’
Perhaps this would mean a change of lifestyle and behaviour,
or the way in which we handle our emotions, but it is important
to realise that we are not expected to do this on our own. Change
happens when we become involved in a working partnership with
the indwelling Holy Spirit, who will help mould us into the
special person God wants us to become. John Henry Newman once
wrote: "God has created me to do for Him some definite service.
He has committed some work to me, which He has not committed
to another." It is always related to the good, the well being
of others. Often it is 'a new thing I want to do with you'.
What a difference it would make in our lives if we really lived
out the truth of Colossians 1:27 ‘Christ living in us, the hope
of glory’, and were continually conscious of Christ living in
us. Christ’s presence is the evidence and power of our witness.
The Church of the New Testament was dynamic and effective. God
used men and women like you and me, and turned the world upside
down. The Church prospered because of the power of God. His
Word says; ‘I will build my Church and the gates of hell will
not prevail against it.’ We see from the New Testament that
the early Church was birthed in an atmosphere of constant prayer.
The early believers continually devoted themselves to prayer
and fellowship. Acts 2:42: In just one day God poured out His
Spirit and 3,000 were baptised. There was a power that permeated
the life of the Church that was explosive and caused them to
see things happen, and brought life to the multitudes. God’s
kingdom on earth is a dynamic reality and the same can happen
today, if we are willing to submit and live under His rule.
We must get back to doing things Gods way. The good news of
the gospel remains the same; there is forgiveness, cleansing
and deliverance for the sin-sick soul who is tired of his sin.
Blessings, Pat
